We welcome people who want to support their friends, family members and colleagues, and spot any signs that they may be struggling, as well as gaining some tips for managing their own mental wellbeing and resilience.
Not sure which course is right for you? Contact our team on 0800 018 2361.
Your Finding it Tough? mental wellbeing course will be delivered online by one of the RAF Association’s trainers. At the start of the course, the trainer will talk through the course structure and what it involves. They will also encourage you to have your device cameras on and to join in the conversation if you feel comfortable to do so.
During the course, the trainer may refer to the course handbook, which you will receive as an electronic version in your confirmation email. This will be a fantastic reference point after the course if you need reminding of anything.
We run three mental wellbeing courses. These are: for veterans, for families, and for those supporting the RAF community.
Veterans – If you have served in the RAF, or have a family member that has, this is the course for you.
Families – If you are the family member or partner of serving RAF personnel, and are over the age of 18, this is the course for you.
Supporting community – If you work with the RAF, on RAF stations, or volunteer to support the RAF community, this course will be applicable to you.
We’re aware that some members of the RAF community may have multiple links to the RAF.
If this is the case, we recommend taking whichever you identify most strongly with.
Not sure which course to take? You can call our team on 0800 018 2361.
Participation will be in small, confidential groups.
This course is for non-serving RAF personnel only. Serving RAF personnel are encouraged to seek help through the RAF’s Thriving At Work programme.
Your course will be run on Zoom. You will receive an email with a Zoom link, and instructions on how to join if you haven’t used Zoom before, a few days before your course date.
Please ensure you are in a quiet room where you will feel comfortable talking openly if you wish to.
Our courses are 2.5 hours long. You will be given the chance for a break at a time determined by our trainers.
Whilst we offer our courses free of charge to the RAF community, each course costs us £593 to deliver. If for any reason you are unable to make your course, we would really appreciate you letting us know so we can offer that place to someone else. You can cancel your course by calling 0800 0182361 or through the links in your confirmation email.
If you would still like to attend a Finding it Tough? course, then you will be able to rebook at a time and date that suits you.
The course is quality marked through its AIM accreditation, and all participants can request a course certificate upon completion.

The RAF Association believes we owe a debt of gratitude to the RAF and their families. They continue to protect the peace and safety we all enjoy every day. It’s our charity’s job to make sure everyone who is serving or has served in the RAF, and their loved ones, gets help and support when they need it most.
We rely on the generosity of the public to bring friendship, care and support to the RAF community.
Please support us if you can by making a donation.
